PERSONALITY:BEATLES, THE STOCKCODE:78839AA

Category: Music
Sub-Category: Band

The Beatles toured Australia for the first, and only, time in June of 1964. Beatlemania was at a fever pitch by this time, as evidenced by the 350,000 fans that greeted them in Adelaide, the largest recorded crowd that the Beatles would ever see in their touring history. The reaction in New Zealand surpassed that of Australia, with the young New Zealanders experiencing a cultural shift that had begun with the start of television broadcasting in 1960. The young New Zealand fans were Beatle crazy, with fans injured at the airport upon the Beatles’ arrival, one of their touring cars nearly pushed over, a girl slashing her wrists in the hotel room of one of the band’s entourage when he refused to introduce her, John and Ringo injured in a crush of fans in Auckland, and as they were departing a boy ran out onto the tarmac and had to be dragged away by police. We have a South Pacific TEAL in-flight magazine, signed on the front cover in blue ballpoint by all four members, John Lennon (inscribing "To Hunt"), Paul McCartney ("To Hunt, from"), George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, as well as Derek Taylor (adding "pp Brian Epstein"). This item was obviously signed after the departure of replacement drummer, Jimmy Nichols. Ringo had rejoined his bandmates three days into the tour following his recovery from tonsilitis. These autographs were undoubtedly collected as the band was flying around New Zealand upon a TEAL (Tasman Empire Airlines) plane during this frenzied portion of their Far East tour, at the very height of Beatlemania. In fine condition, with scattered light creasing. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from noted Beatles expert Frank Caiazzo adding that the signatures on this magazine date from mid-1964."

PERSONALITY:BEATLES, THE STOCKCODE:76150AA

Category: Music
Sub-Category: Band

Formed in Liverpool in 1960, The Beatles went on to become one of the biggest bands in the world and their record sales across the globe are phenomenal. We have an original fastener-bound mimeographed rehearsal schedule (21 pages) for the BBC's concert "It's The Beatles!" held at the Empire Theatre, Liverpool, on Saturday, December 7th, 1963 signed by The Beatles. The Beatles were scheduled to perform a 30-minute set, outlined in detail with the set list, lyrics, and camera angles. Attendance at the concert was restricted to 2,500 members of The Beatles' Northern Area Fan Club. While part of the concert was broadcast on the BBC on the same evening, the audience's loud screaming interfered with the camera direction and sound balance, and the results were less than satisfactory. Signed in ballpoint on the front cover 'John Lennon', 'Ringo Starr', 'George Harrison' and 'Paul McCartney.' The cover also bears the signature of D. Bickerdale, who is listed within as an assistant. Measures 334x206mm and is unframed. Light skipping to a few letters of John's, Ringo's and Paul's signatures and a small tear to right edge of cover, otherwise in fine condition. An excellent piece of Beatles autographica.

PERSONALITY:LENNON, JOHN STOCKCODE:101488

Category: Music
Sub-Category: Band

English singer-songwriter (1940-1980), Lennon achieved widespread fame and recognition as a member of The Beatles, one of the most popular and critically acclaimed acts of the 20th century. Lennon left the band in 1969 to focus on his solo work and to leave behind an increasingly fraught relationship between himself and Paul McCartney. He was murdered by Mark David Chapman on 8th December 1980. We have an unsigned hand-written list in black pen ink on a clipped sheet of lined yellow paper which has been addressed to "Fred" and "F.S." (most likely Fred Seaman, Lennon's former personal assistant) on the verso and top of the paper. Lennon writes a "To do" list of 11 tasks for Fred to complete, from the mundane such as buying "carrots (Better nature has some good organic ones)" as well as a rather sweet gesture to "Get some nice white flowers and put on Y's [Yoko's] desk from 'Daddy & Sean [their son]' (in vase)". The note dates from 1979-80, the years of Fred Seaman's employment with John Lennon. Measures 134x216mm and is unframed. The list has additional notations in black and red pen ink and pencil. In fine condition with a staple hole to the top left corner of the piece which does not affect the text. An excellent piece of John Lennon autograph material.

The signed photograph is one of a limited number that were presented to crew members who worked on 'Help!'.
