The Birth of the Blonde Bombshell

In 1960 Hugh Hefner printed a special edition Playboy Magazine. In it he included a pictorial toast to 'Playboy's very first playmate'.

Copies of this magazine are highly sought after.

We have one available. Signed by Marilyn Monroe. Just a bed-sheet covering her modesty.

This is why you should buy it...

Her first modeling job only paid $5.

She signed her first contract with 20th Century Fox in 1946, earning $125 a week.

Yet today her estate earns over £8m ($16m) each year. She's the 8th highest earning deceased celebrity.

She's an icon...it's what makes her such an excellent investment.

Yet when she was first asked for an autograph she had to ask how to spell 'Marilyn'.

Marilyn Monroe starred in 29 films in total but her break through came in the 1953 film 'Gentlemen prefer Blondes'

It's fair to say something happened to Marilyn Monroe in 1953.

She had been a struggling actress...but then she shot to fame.

She can thank Hugh Hefner.

You see, Hefner bought the rights to Marilyn's nude calendar photo in 1953. He used it as the centerfold for his first ever issue of Playboy Magazine.

The Blonde Bombshell was born.

In 1960 Hugh Hefner printed a special edition Playboy. In it he included a pictorial toast to 'Playboy's very first playmate'.

'The Magnificent Marilyn'

Copies of this magazine are highly sought after. Hefner refers to Marilyn as 'the complete goddess' and 'Magnificent Marilyn'.

The pictures accompanying the Marilyn Monroe article are of a naked Marilyn lying on a bed with her breakfast tray and only a bed-sheet hiding her modesty...

...there is also an iconic close up shot of Marilyn pouting to the camera.

We have one of these magazines available.

And even better, Marilyn has also signed it...

It's the clearest, most complete, Marilyn signature I have seen.

The signature is as bold and beautiful as the lady herself. It appears to reflect happy times in her life.

And remember this is signed just 20 months prior to her alleged suicide...

Only 17 months prior to singing 'Happy Birthday Mr President' to JFK.

Interestingly Marilyn has addressed her signed dedication 'To Hugh...Marilyn Monroe'

Was it signed for Hugh Hefner himself? We don't know. But it's entirely possible...

You see, the magazine is additionally signed on their respective features and photos by Hugh Hefner, Jerry Lewis, Julie London and this issue's playmate centerfold, Carol Eden.

We seldom have the opportunity to handle Marilyn Monroe items of this calibre.

Remember this is the lady whose autograph value alone is up 136% in the last 10 years. Signed photos have performed even better.

How have signed Playboy magazines, with editorial features dedicated to Marilyn, signed by Marilyn, possibly dedicated to the Editor, fared?

No idea is the answer; in 30 years we've never had the opportunity to hold one.

But now we do. And it's available at £19,950 (less than $40,000).

I think its fair to say this is a unique item.

An enduring appeal

In a recent British poll, Marilyn ranked second for the icons British people would like to bring back from the dead, being beaten only by Diana, Princess of Wales.

Marilyn was also voted 'Sexiest Women of the Century' by People Magazine in 1999.

Hugh Hefner himself named her the 'Number One Sex Star of the 20th Century' in Playboy Magazine in 1999.

It's what makes a legend...an icon.

And it's what makes this such a fabulous investment piece.

Elton John summed it up best; his song 'Candle in the Wind' was dedicated to Marilyn Monroe:

"Your candle burned out long before
Your legend ever did"

Don't miss out on this superb piece of Golden Era Hollywood memorabilia.

P.S. This is an absolute one off. Marilyn signatures are rare. Signed photos are rarer. This is a 'one off' opportunity to purchase a famous copy of Playboy Magazine, signed by Marilyn Monroe. Don't miss out.
