Portfolio Builder newsletter
I think it is worth writing some more on this product as, the more I think about it, the more I realise this is something exceptional.
The Portfolio Builder is now our most popular investment product. We receive new enquires about it almost every day...
Its power as a retirement planning vehicle is quite astounding. It all hinges on the fact that rare stamp prices generally increase by 10% compound per annum over the long term.
Most investors have a hard-wired belief mechanism that all assets go up and down in value.
The truth is - no one knows whether rare stamps will appreciate in value at this rate forever. All we do know is that this is what has happened throughout history. For me, that's as good as it gets in the investment world. As we have seen though in the past few years, nothing is certain.
It is for that very reason that I recommend you put a monthly amount into a non-correlated asset (rare stamps) to protect and diversify your pension fund.
The perfect investment to provide for your future
You only need the minimum investment of £1,000 up-front followed by contributions of £100 a month to participate in this product...
We use that money to purchase rare stamps of the right quality in the market for you. Those premium stamps that have a history of appreciating by 10% per annum.
The table below shows you what this
could mean in practice, assuming contributions from the age of 30, with a retirement age of 60:

When I produced this illustration, I had to check it again. I even called our Finance Director to make sure I hadn't made a mistake. Let me show you what got me so excited:
1. Total contributions of just £37,000 (£1,000 up-front followed by £100 a month) over 30 years, resulted in a rare stamp pension pot of nearly £215,000.
2. With most pensions, you buy an annuity with the value of your pension fund on retirement. This guarantees you an income until you die. It is a bit of a lottery whether this proves good value to you. This means your fund ceases earning when you retire.
With the Portfolio Builder, your fund keeps on growing after you retire. What that means in this example is:
a) You can take £14,842 in year one, followed by:
b) £20,000 a year for the rest of your life (even if you live until you are 150).
c) But, the best bit... when you die, your fund will still be worth £220,000. In other words, you get a comfortable retirement and your descendents get a comfortable inheritance.
3. With Capital Gains Tax exemptions in the UK, some simple tax planning can ensure this income is yours tax-free (based on current UK tax rules).
We will store and insure your collection free of charge. There are no hidden costs or service charges in your investment.
You don't need to invest just the minimum. An up-front investment of £10,000, followed by £1,000 a month for 30 years could result in annual retirement income of £200,000 and a portfolio inheritance value of £2.2 million!
Most people do not know about this product. That's why one national newspaper called it: "the best retirement plan you've never heard of."
Unless I have failed to explain myself well enough, the only possible doubt left in your mind could be:
"Is the 10% per annum return genuine?"
Let's look at some hard facts...
The facts: The Good and the Bad
The GB30 Rarities Index provides a reliable historic measure of performance. The index lists historic prices of rare stamps. Prices can be tracked back to 1954.
You can view the index on Bloomberg. The index is generally accepted as a barometer of overall market performance.
In 1954, the constituents of the index had a value of £8,360...
The current index value in 2010 is £1,586,000. The index is up 18,871% over the past 56 years. This sounds much bigger than it actually is but still equates to a compound increase of 9.8% per annum.
When looking at 5 yearly performance intervals, the worst period was 1980 to 1985 when the index only went up 10%.
But, that was just after the best period. Between 1975 and 1980, the index went up 593%. This is what happened in the stamp market when inflation was running riot. How big an inflation threat do you think we have for the next 10 years?
The important thing...
The index has never declined in value in any 5-year period or in any single year over the past 56 years. What pension fund can offer you that sort of performance history? Certainly, none can in the past 5 years.
To summarise what makes the Portfolio Builder such a wise choice for the canny retirement planner:
- An investment with a history of never going down in value.
- An average long term performance of 10% per annum on a compound basis.
- Performed best in previous times of high inflation.
- Continues to deliver similar returns even when interest rates are low.
Not only that, you can benefit from some unique tax advantages...
Manage Your Tax Liability
Because rare stamps are a tangible asset, investment returns represent a capital gain for tax purposes. The current rate of Capital Gains Tax in the UK is 18%. The first £10,100 of capital gains in any tax year is exempt, and therefore tax-free.
One of the key benefits of the Portfolio Builder service is that you can choose to sell a part of your collection at any time. This provides you with the flexibility to manage your tax liabilities by selling a part of your portfolio up to the tax-free threshold each year (or £10,100 per annum).
Furthermore, with a joint investment with your spouse you can double the value of this tax exemption giving you the opportunity to create tax-free gains each year of £20,100.
