ST LUCIA 1910 SG. Essay 2d slate-violet and 10s carmine DLR unadopted "Printex" essays

Stock Code: P223015857

1910 (Jan 7) 2d slate-violet and 10s carmine De La Rue unadopted essays, different designs showing the Pitons and the motto of the colony (variant spellings !), produced by the semi-photographic "Printex" process. An identical pair of essays, affixed to dated DLR cards, is illustrated in "The De La Rue Collection" on p. 5520 (= Designs "C" and "D"), whereas these examples derive from an internal DLR typewritten sample sheet (c.1910) promoting the benefits of the "Printex" process for the rapid production of plates for surface-printing via photo-etched dies (without the need for hand-engraving). A rare and most attractive pair. [A copy of the complete original sample sheet, also featuring essays for other countries, is included.]
